An INSS survey for the month of April revealed, in addition to the reduction in the stock of applications – which went from 1,447,754 to 1,398,397 –, the drop in the net Average Concession Time (TMC) from 43 to 39 days. In other words, 6 days below the legal deadline (45 days).

The net TMC takes into account the requests that are in stock, discounting the requests that are in demand — a phase of the concession process that depends exclusively on the insured, which is why it cannot be counted. Retirement, pensions, maternity pay and benefits are included in the average period. International agreements and post-expertise analyzes do not come into this account.

“In June 2023, when we launched the Transparency Portal, 1,794,449 people were waiting for a response to their INSS request, now there are 1,398,397. A drop of almost 23%”, celebrates the Minister of Social Security, Carlos Lupi, who adds: “Last year, I set myself the challenge of bringing the queue within the legal deadline of 45 days. And we did it: in June the waiting time was 67 days and April closed at 39”.

The simplification of applications in Meu INSS, reformulation of Atestmed – which is the exchange of in-person expertise for document analysis – and extra services, are some of the actions that the Ministry of Social Security and INSS have implemented to reduce the number of requests waiting of analysis.

“The commitment of INSS employees, the modernization of internal flows and other measures that we are adopting are generating positive impacts on the analysis of applications and on the economy with late payment expenses”, said in a statement the president of the INSS, Alessandro Stefanutto.

The impact on the budget occurs because if the INSS exceeds the legal deadline for granting a benefit, when the payment is finally released, the institute has to pay corrections for the days that exceeded the deadline, which has a negative impact on the public coffers.
