INSS beneficiaries start receiving their 13th salary from the 24th | Economy

The National Social Security Institute (INSS) will pay, from the 24th, the first installment of the annual bonus, also known as the 13th, for Social Security beneficiaries. Last month, the federal government ordered payment to be brought forward, normally made in August. The measure will reach 33.6 million benefits and it is estimated that this first installment corresponds to R$33.68 billion more circulating in the country’s economy, according to March payroll data.

The amounts will be deposited together with the benefit for the month of April, which will be paid between April 24th and May 8th (check the payment calendar).

Those insured with benefits with a final digit of 1 and who earn up to the current minimum wage (R$1,412) receive first. Beneficiaries with final digits from 1 to 5 received payment in the last five business days of April. Insured persons with final digits from 6 to 9 and those with ending 0 will have payments credited together with those receiving benefits above the minimum wage, in the first five working days of May. The complete INSS payment calendar can be seen at the link calendar 2024.

It is possible to check the benefit card number on the Meu INSS website and application, using the “payment statement” service. As well as central 135, which operates from Monday to Saturday, from 7am to 10pm.

Who receives

The 13th is due to retirees, pensioners and people who receive, throughout 2024, temporary benefits, such as aid for temporary incapacity and confinement aid – in these cases, the amount is proportional to the time in which the benefit was received.

Those who receive maternity pay are also entitled to the proportional 13th salary. However, it is paid together with the last installment of the benefit and, therefore, the person does not receive the extra amount along with the other beneficiaries. Anyone who receives the Continuous Payment Benefit (BPC) for the elderly and people with disabilities is not entitled to the additional amount.

How much do you receive

The advance amount corresponds to 50% of the total value of the annual allowance and no Income Tax discount is applied to this first installment. When applicable, the tax is only charged in the second installment, which will be paid between the end of May and the beginning of June.
