IP creates ‘Cuarto de Junto’ to collaborate with the SE in the renegotiation of the T-MEC of 2026 – El Financiero

The manager indicated that the main objective of the ‘Next room‘ will be to put on the table the main irritants that exist in Mexico’s commercial relationship with its North American trading partners, so they intend to begin to fix those technical differences to reach the renegotiation table without major problems.

“We do not want to reach renegotiations with an inventory of problems that could complicate things for us, this is the first time that we are working so far in advance with the Ministry of Economy, and although the change of Government is coming, we want to leave the work tables installed,” he indicated.

For now, Cervantes did not want to reveal what issues they are working on, although in recent years there have been disputes in energy matters, the automotive sector and the agri-food sector.

“We are not (considering) adding any chapter to the T-MEC in this 2026 review, but we are working with the business chambers of the United States to have a renegotiation without any problems,” he indicated.
