Residents of the São Jorge neighborhood, in Japeri, who want to participate in the Academia da Saúde project, but don’t have time during the week, will now have another opportunity. The project will be running on Saturdays, starting April 27th. The services are free, offered by the city hall, through the Municipal Health Department (SEMUS).
The space, which operates at Rua Vereador Francisco Costa Filho, 1209-1285, offers medical care and physical activities. On Saturdays, the medical clinic will be open from 9am to 12pm. There is also Karate for older adults (elderly) at 9am, and for children (from 8 years old), young people and adults at 10am.
During the week, the Health Academy in the São Jorge neighborhood offers dance gymnastics (Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 7:30 am to 8:30 am), solo Pilates (Monday and Wednesday, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am and from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm), Zumba (Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am, and Functional (Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 am to 10:30 am) From May 8th, it is planned to include an evening activity, with Zumba every Wednesday, from 6 pm to 7:30 pm.
No need to schedule an appointment. All participants are monitored by a clinician and geriatrician, in addition to nursing care.
The Academia da Saúde project also operates in the Chacrinha neighborhood, on Rua João Salgado dos Santos. Activities are every Tuesday and Thursday, with gymnastics and stretching from 7:30 am to 8:30 am, and Zumba from 8:30 am to 9:30 am. In total, the two units serve more than 500 people.
