LeBron James Addresses His NBA Future On Social Media

LeBron James took to social media to share what his future plans are after the end of his 21st season in the NBA.

“I’ve seen, heard a lot of reports about my future. I said it last night and I’ll say it again. I do not know yet as I’m only thinking about spending time with my family & friends! When I know after speaking with the fam, my counsel as well as my representation about it then you guys will know. Until then, Love.”

James was not pleased with the rampant speculation about his future after the end of Game 5, which prompted him to share a tweet to reaffirm many of the things he had already said in his exit interview. James had addressed his desire to spend time with family over the coming months before he has to start preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“I just wanna get home to the family, honestly. Looking at the schedule, one of my boys is trying to decide if he’s gonna enter the draft or go back to school. I got another kid who’s playing AAU ball right now. My daughter’s playing volleyball, and my wife is doing so many great things. It’s all about family right now. Then in a couple of months, I gotta go to Vegas for training camp (for USAB).”

LeBron is coming off a hectic season, averaging 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.3 assists while breaking records for anything achieved by a player in Year 21 before. Even though the Lakers were a first-round exit, LeBron far exceeded anything we have seen a player at age 39 or with 21 years of NBA experience do.

LeBron Is Headed To Free Agency

LeBron has a one-year, $51 million player option in his contract that he’s widely expected to decline and become a free agent for the first time since 2018. The last three times James has entered the market as a free agent, he’s switched teams, moving to Miami in 2010, Cleveland in 2014, and Lakers in 2018. He’s been with the Purple and Gold franchise for the last six years.

Unlike the previous times he entered free agency, James isn’t angling for a move away from the franchise. He’ll have to see what the Lakers are willing to offer him compared to others.

His co-star Anthony Davis will do everything in his power to ensure James re-signs.

“Absolutely, I feel like we complement each other, we have done something special together. The good thing about it, I’m going to be with him all summer, so have a lot of conversations and things like that. He know how I feel about him… If he kind of asks my opinion or whenever we talk about it, I’m obviously going to try to recruit him back.”

Almost every contending team in the NBA will make a push for James, but it’s safe to say the decision will come down to LA or whoever drafts Bronny James. It’ll be odd to see James switch franchises now unless it gets him closer to winning a title or gives him the opportunity to play with his son.
