Local author to discuss Colorado’s silver crash at Veterans Museum Broomfield – Boulder Daily Camera

Broomfield’s Veterans Museum will welcome author John Steinle to discuss his book “Colorado

and the Silver Crash — the Panic of 1893.”

A historian and former museum curator, Steinle wrote the novel in 2021, and it covers Colorado’s rich history and economic reliance on precious metal mining and how it all came crashing down in the 1890s. The book discusses the multiple factors that contributed to the crash, including declining silver prices and decreasing farm prices.

The talk is part of the museum’s ongoing Coffee and Conversation lecture series that highlights historical perspectives relevant to both veterans and non-veterans in Colorado.

The talk, and all the Coffee and Conversation lectures, begin at 10 a.m. at the museum, 12 Garden Center on Saturday. The museum provides light refreshments including coffee and doughnuts. For more information, call the museum at 303-460-6801.
