CHICAGO — A man is facing a first-degree murder charge after allegedly beating a 74-year-old in January.
Shermaine Sargent, 41, was arrested on Tuesday in the 1000 block of South Michigan.
Police allege he beat Timothy Ash, 74, on Jan. 7 in the 6400 block of South Martin Luther King Drive. Ash died from his injuries on Jan. 12.
Sargent’s detention hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
