Man charged after suburban woman attacked while walking dog in park

MCHENRY, Ill. — A woman was allegedly attacked Sunday afternoon while walking her dog in a McHenry park.

Just after 3:25 p.m., officers responded to Peterson Park, located in the 4300 block of Peterson Park Road, on the report of a disturbance.

Police believe a 59-year-old woman was walking her dog in the park when she was allegedly suddenly attacked and battered by Raymond Link, 47, of West Allis, Wisconsin.

Link’s dog was reportedly unleashed and bit the woman during the alleged attack. The woman was airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in serious condition with injuries to her face and dog bites.

A 37-year-old man attempted to intervene and was also injured. He was transported to McHenry Hospital with a broken clavicle and dog bite.

Link was arrested and charged with attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery with great bodily harm, two counts of aggravated battery in a public place and one count of aggravated battery by strangulation.

Link’s dog was later located and released to the care of the McHenry County Animal Control.
