Rio – Members of a church in Guapimirim, Baixada, are searching for José Cláudio Mendes, 59, who has been missing since April 18th. According to a missionary from the temple, he left home to undergo an examination at a hospital in Nova Iguaçu, in the same region, but did not return.
“He is a very family-friendly person, a brother in Christ Jesus, he attends my church, which he attended for 3 years”, explained missionary Genilda da Conceição Alves da Silva, 64 years old.
Cláudio lived in Guapimirim and always took the same route when he needed to take an exam. “He always did this and he always came back. This is the first time he disappeared,” he said.
According to Genilda, Cláudio lived alone. “He said he had been separated from his family for a long time and even had a daughter, but he hadn’t seen her for about 15 years,” he said.
The man often participated in church events. In one image, he appears with a sign that says: ‘You are not a mistake, you are a project for Jesus’.
The case was registered at the 46th DP (Guapimirim).
