Rio – In the victory over São Paulo, at Maracanã, Flamengo demonstrated some important virtues, however, the one that caught the most attention was the creative performance of the midfield in the presence of Arrascaeta. With Pulgar, Allan and De La Cruz, the Rio team acted in a stronger manner, but did not lose its creative potential.
Obviously, the number 14 and Rubro-Negro idol continues to be an undisputed starter for Tite’s team, but his good performance is an indication that the team may feel his absence less than in previous years. Hiring a replacement for Arrascaeta is a plan that Flamengo has been trying for a few seasons.
Nicolás de La Cruz’s more advanced performance pleased the fans. The main reinforcement for Flamengo this season, the Uruguayan has been performing increasingly better in recent matches, showing adaptation to the team’s game model and also to Brazilian football.
In addition to the option chosen by Tite, Flamengo also has Gerson for the sector. The 26-year-old midfielder has been entering the second half of the matches, regaining rhythm and physical shape, after undergoing kidney surgery and missing Rubro-Negro for much of Carioca and the first two Libertadores games.
