Mexico reports blackouts – El Financiero

He Electrical System in Mexico entered an Operational Alert State the afternoon of this Wednesday, May 8, after the report of blackouts in different parts of the country possibly caused by the heat wave that different regions are experiencing.

The National Energy Control Center (Cenace) reported that from 2:46 p.m. it entered a state of alert, due to failures in the electrical system, which is why they are already working to solve the electrical crisis in different parts of the country.

On Tuesday, May 7, Cenace reported the “emergency” operational status, and for this Wednesday the operational status is “alert.”

It should be noted that blackouts are reported in Mexico City and southern cities such as Mérida, Yucatán.

Mexico is going through one of the hottest weeks of the year, due to an anticyclonic system that has contributed to no rain being reported. In addition, the second heat wave has favored dry climates in much of the country, which led Mexico City to present a new heat record this May 7, surpassing the record of the same day but from 2003.
