The RS Dairy Industry Union (Sindilat) reported that, with the reduction in water levels in the Taquari Valley and other regions of Rio Grande do Sul, milk collection has resumed. “This Tuesday, several properties were once again accessed by industrial milk trucks and collection tends to increase in the coming days,” he said in a note.

According to the entity, the collection system suffered the greatest loss on Sunday, the 5th, due to the interruption of roads, the death of animals and the flooding of rural properties.

Sindilat says that around 3 million liters were no longer collected until Sunday in Rio Grande do Sul.

On Monday, the 6th, the situation began to be restored with the support of industries.

“Companies are helping each other, obtaining milk from all possible producers, from those who are their suppliers and those who are not. This is the way we found to guarantee income for these families and not harm the supply even further”, he said in the note the executive secretary of Sindilat, Darlan Palharini.

The dairy sector is one of the most branched in the state’s economy, operating in 493 of the State’s 497 municipalities.
