According to the decision, the Federal Police (PF) must clarify whether Bolsonaro presented a vaccination card when entering the United States, carry out new investigations and produce reports on the cell phones seized from former aide-de-camp Mauro Cid.
Earlier, the request for further investigation was made to the Supreme Court by the Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet.
Last month, Bolsonaro, Cid and 15 other defendants were indicted by the PF. After the indictment, the investigation was sent to the PGR to decide whether a complaint will be filed against the former president and the others being investigated.
The prosecutor understood that some steps are necessary to deepen the investigation, such as bringing together expert reports on seized cell phones and computers and information from the United States Department of Justice.
‘It is relevant to know whether any vaccination certificate was presented by Jair Bolsonaro and the other members of the presidential delegation, upon entry and stay in North American territory. It would at least be of interest to determine whether there was, at the time, a rule at the place of entry of the delegation into the USA that required every foreigner to present a vaccination certificate to enter the country, even if they held a passport and diplomatic visa”, wrote Gonet.
According to investigations, the fraud to include false information in the Ministry of Health’s system was intended to facilitate Bolsonaro’s stay in the United States, a country that adopted sanitary measures against foreigners who were not vaccinated against Covid-19.
On December 30, 2022, the day before his term ends, Bolsonaro traveled to the United States. Days later, on January 8, 2023, the headquarters of the Three Powers, in BrasÃlia, were invaded and vandalized.
