New Air Jordan 4 teased by Nigel Sylvester

Jordan Brand athlete and professional BMX rider Nigel Sylvester is no stranger to having his own collaboration with the Air Jordan series. He had a wildly popular debut Air Jordan 1 colorway that still holds up a classic today, followed by another black reindition of the silhouette. Catering to the styles and needs within his own sport of BMX, Sylvester was recently spotted rocking a brand new Air Jordan 4 model, indicating yet another crossover on the way. Despite being one of the most famous, if not the most famous, BMX riders on the planet, Nigel Sylvester doesn’t typically compete in professional competitions or prepare for the upcoming Olympics. Although he’d probably make a run at the gold medal, Sylvester uses his platform on social media to create some of the freshest and most entertaining content around his BMX riding. His GO! series features a POV of the athlete riding through crowded cities like New York and Tokyo, using both pedestrians and the urban jungle around him to showcase his skills. From a pure entertainment standpoint, they’re some of the coolest videos on the internet.

The Queens, NY native has had a longstanding relationship with Jordan Brand since his initial Air Jordan 1 collaboration in 2018. Throughout his videos, he can be seen rocking exclusive Air Jordans on his bike and has been a lifetime fan of the brand. Recently seen on the streets, Nigel Sylvester was caught wearing a never-before-seen pair of Air Jordan 4s made specifically for him, indicating his next Jordan Brand project.

As seen in the video, these aren’t your typical Air Jordan 4s. The silhouette has become known as the RM or Remix version, tailoring specifically to Sylvester and his “Bike Air” brand. We see an all-suede green upper on these, with new plastic tooling along the uppers. The famous “wings” connecting the laces are seen with a more squared design than the typical Air Jordan 4. We see the tongue is cut from the top and features the AIR JORDAN branding tag on the outside of the tongue, typically featured on the inside with standard pairs. The hallmark difference is the “BIKE AIR” logo on the back with a shortened heel tab, another feature custom-built for wearing these on a bike.

The shoes will also feature extra padding around the sockliner and tongue. They’re fitted with a traditional Air Jordan 4 sole, featured mostly in black with a white air unit. The finishing touch is a stitched Nike Swoosh along to outside toe, tying these together nicely with a vintage look. At first glance, these are a completely fresh take on a beloved silhouette and in my opinion, these may see more hype than some original Air Jordan 4 releases.

Not much has been rumored about an actual release date on this, but given Nigel Sylvester’s low-key approach to things, these may drop unexpectedly and are likely to be extremely limited. He has yet to miss on one of his Jordan collaborations and this is shaping up to be another hit from sneakerheads and above all else, a huge win for the BMX community.

What do you think of Nigel Sylvester’s take on the Air Jordan 4? Are these better than the original?
