From January 1, 2024 to April 29, 2024, 239 traffic accidents were recorded in Nova Friburgo, according to data from the Fire Department. This means an average of two accidents per day in the municipality. Of the total, 69% involved motorcycles.
Most accidents occur on weekends and most drivers are caught driving under the influence of alcohol.
Wrongful bodily injury cases in traffic
The monitoring panel of the Public Security Institute (ISP) of Rio de Janeiro shows that Nova Friburgo is the city in the Mountain Region with the highest frequency of negligent bodily injuries in traffic in January and February 2024.
The data shows that the city had, in the first two months of this year, 52 cases or victims of this type of incident.
