Nova Iguaçu – The excellent campaign of Nova Iguaçu Futebol Clube, runner-up in the 2024 state championship, will still yield good news for Laranja Mecânica from Baixada Fluminense. In addition to the recognition of all fans, the club will be able to win the title of Intangible Heritage of the State of Rio de Janeiro.
The tribute is being processed in the Legislative Assembly of Rio (Alerj), through bill 2125/2023.
“Nova Iguaçu is a source of pride for the entire Baixada, for 34 years it has been working as an agent of transformation in the lives of young people and adults. It has become a school of talents and citizens. This honor is recognition of the excellent work done for sport and, above all, for society in general”, highlights deputy Carlinhos BNH, president of the Alerj Sports and Leisure Commission.
Despite the defeat in the final against Flamengo, the balance of the competition was positive for the team from Baixada Fluminense. Under the command of Carlos Vitor, Nova Iguaçu had a historic campaign. The club qualified in second place overall for the decisive stages, in the semi-final, they beat Vasco and reached the decision for the first time since its foundation.
