Santa Catarina – Midfielder Newton was announced this Friday (19), the last day of the transfer window for players who competed in the state championships, as Criciúma’s new reinforcement. He was loaned by Botafogo until the end of 2024.
Newton was initially hired for Botafogo’s under-23 team, which did not continue after the end of the national calendar, and was used in the main group in the final stretch of the last Brasileirão under the command of Tiago Nunes.
In 2024, the 24-year-old midfielder played nine games in the Campeonato Carioca, seven in the Taça Guanabara and two in the Taça Rio. The young man has already appeared in the CBF’s Daily Newsletter (BID) and is available to debut for Criciúma, led by coach Cláudio Tencati.
Criciúma confirmed this Friday (19/04) news in the squad for the dispute in Series A of the Brazilian Championship.
