A main road has been closed for emergency repairs after “smoke” was seen coming from a manhole.
B2050 Park Lane in Birchington is closed in both directions while engineers from UK Power Networks undergo works in the area.
The repairs are taking place from A28 The Square to Stone Barn Avenue.
According to an eyewitness at the scene, Duncan Forster, who owns Your World Financial Services in Birchington Square, “smoke was coming from a manhole” in the road.
Police and the fire service were also pictured in attendance earlier this afternoon.
UK Power Networks and emergency services have been contacted for further information.
