Patriots’ Julian Edelman takes hilarious NSFW shot at Bill Belichick’s failed job hunt

It is still a question to many why one of, if not, the best minds in the NFL did not land a job. Bill Belichick had multiple interviews with franchises like the Atlanta Falcons before officially exiting Robert Kraft’s New England Patriots system. Unfortunately, none of them wanted him enough to even offer him a coaching position. Now, he is still around the game as an invited speaker to programs like Nebraska and an analyst. But, his former players like Julian Edelman can’t help but make fun of the situation.

Netflix’s newly produced special, The Roast of Tom Brady, looked like a reunion of the Patriots dynasty. It was all about laughs and reminiscing about moments before their team collapsed. One of the best jokes thrown at this event was about Bill Belichick. Julian Edelman hurled it out and it got the crowd laughing, Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.

“You remember when you used to yell at us? Look, a**holes, the fucking kids down at Foxboro High can make that f***ing play. I’ve been waiting for this for so long. Look, a**hole, Foxboro High is the only job offer you f***ing had,” the former Patriots receiver said.

The joke made everyone erupt including Bill Belichick. This was especially surprising because of how much the architect of the Patriots dynasty has managed to keep a laugh in and have a straight face throughout his coaching tenure. Truly, Julian Edelman has gotten more close with his head honcho as they both explored their own paths outside of the Patriots.

It was not always jokes, sunshine, and butterflies inside the Patriots system that Robert Kraft built. They had one of the most rigorous training schedules out of anyone in league history. That paid off for guys like Julian Edelman who were able to help Belichick and Tom Brady win ring after ring.

Throughout his NFL career, Edelman has only stuck with the Patriots from 2009 all the way to 2020. He started in 85 out of his 137 appearances and always had the sticky hands to make the play. When it was all said and done, his career finished with 620 receptions which led to 6,822 receiving yards. Edelman’s lethality in the end zone was also unquestioned. He closed out the Patriots’ attempts for six points 36 times which is very impressive.

The average gain that he gave Coach Belichick per play was 11 yards. It was a guaranteed first down every time that they attempted to throw the ball to him. All of those added up to three Super Bowl wins for the Patriots with Edelman’s help. Moreover, the star out of Redwood City even bagged the Super Bowl MVP award back in its 53rd iteration. While Belichick might not have an NFL coaching job, he surely changed the lives of guys like Edelman due to his insane wits and schemes inside Robert Kraft’s system.
