Pilgrims of love | | The day

Published 04/20/2024 00:00

Tomorrow the Church around the world prays for vocations, so that everyone can respond to Christ’s call by courageously following his mission. The World Day of Prayer for Vocations invites us to consider the precious gift of calling that the Lord directs to each of us. Listening to the divine call, far from being an imposed duty, is the safest way we have to feed our desire for happiness.

Our life becomes full when we discover who we are, the qualities we have and the field where we can put them into practice. Also when we discover what path we can take to become a sign and instrument of love in the contexts where we live.

It is through the diversity of charisms and vocations that we are able to fully understand our identity as Christians. As the people of God traveling the roads of the world, each of us discovers ourselves as a member of a great family: son of the Father and brother of our fellow men. We are not islands closed in on themselves, but parts of the whole.

We are all pilgrims, we are on the journey to discover God’s love and, at the same time, to discover ourselves, through an interior journey, always stimulated by the multiplicity of relationships.

Thus, our path on this earth is never reduced to aimless effort or aimless wandering. On the contrary, each day, responding to our call, we seek to take the possible steps towards a new world, where we live in peace, justice and love.
