Pistons the betting favorite to sign Tobias Harris amid 76ers uncertainty

The Detroit Pistons finished a historically inept 2023-2024 campaign and are now looking to the draft and free agency in hopes of giving Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey a chance to compete for a playoff spot next season. One potential name that could help the Pistons is a former Piston: Tobias Harris.

Harris had a solid year for the Philadelphia 76ers but didn’t play his best when the chips were down in the NBA’s second season vs. the New York Knicks.

The Pistons are surprisingly a betting favorite to land Harris this offseason if things don’t work out with the Sixers, a startling development. The info came during an offseason news frenzy that included word of the Pistons possibly pursuing a rival team’s general manager. Detroit was also named as the shocking betting favorite to land a sharp-shooting superstar whose team has been eliminated from the playoffs.

Will the Pistons bring Harris aboard after a decent but ultimately unsuccessful first stint with the club?

Time will tell, but the sportsbooks do appear to favor Detroit in this particular case.

Pistons, Harris Odds Revealed

The sportsbook Bovada.com revealed the latest odds which give the Pistons a -120 number in terms of being the new home for Harris next season, if he doesn’t end up back with the Sixers.

Harris is a 6-foot-8, 226 pound power forward who played three seasons with the Pistons from 2015-2018. He averaged 17.2 points per game last season with Philly, slightly less than his season high average during his three years in the Motor City. Harris is a former 2011 first round pick out of Tennessee by the Charlotte Hornets and brings a crafty inside-outside game to the table along with an efficient and workmanlike approach.

The 76ers star disappointed fans in his final game, however, as he went 0-2 from the field and had a goose egg on the scorecard vs. the Knicks in the deciding and final game of the series.

Harris’ max deal is expiring this offseason, and Sixers GM Daryl Morey wouldn’t rule out a return to Philly.

Other Harris Odds Revealed

Harris’ other potential suitors were also revealed by the sportsbook and they include several unexpected team names.

Among them are the Utah Jazz at +500, San Antonio Spurs at +550, OKC Thunder at +550, and the Charlotte Hornets at +650.

Even more outlandish are the overseas names that were thrown out by the sportsbook. They include the Beijing (China) Ducks at +2500, the Lebanon Leprechauns at +4000, and the Newfoundland Rogues at +5000.

The full list can be read by clicking here. The Pistons currently have the top odds for the upcoming NBA Draft lottery, which will be held on Sunday, May 12.
