Adopted in the midst of the pandemic, Pix became popular with Brazilians and its approval among the population is practically unanimous. In the Southeast, acceptance of the payment method is 94%, according to the latest Radar Febraban survey, carried out between April 17th and 22nd, also in other regions of the country.
The percentage of respondents in the region who said they used this payment method reached 93%. In the Southeast, only 4% of respondents said they disapproved of Pix. The research also investigated which institution was considered safest for using Pix. Banks were mentioned by 35% of respondents, above the 14% who mentioned fintechs and digital banks.
Another provocation of the research was to assign grades to different types of payment, from zero to ten. Pix was the best rated by residents of the Southeast in this comparison, with a score of 90 — above credit cards (77) and debit cards (83), which were also evaluated positively.
On the national average, Pix acceptance rose from 89% to 95% in the last 12 months. A year ago, 77% of the population declared using the system, while at the moment it is 92%, which represents an increase of 15 percentage points. Currently, only 8% of Brazilians say they have not adopted the payment method, while in April 2023 they were 22%.
