According to the police, the criminals’ action, which took place around 9pm, was caught on security cameras in the corridor. The internal circuit images are already being analyzed. The corporation believes that the devices were stolen by people who know the location.
Students reported that the laboratory door was broken into. In images taken by students, the room’s lock appears broken and the tables are empty. According to the police, only the notebooks were stolen. Equipment such as headphones and mice remained on the benches.
In a statement, PUC-Rio informed that the notebooks belong to the institution itself and that students will not be harmed. Finally, the institution highlighted that it values safety and well-being within the campus, covered by security cameras and 24-hour teams.
The case is investigated by the 15th DP (Gávea). According to the corporation, witnesses have already been interviewed and efforts are underway to identify the criminals.
In April, PUC-Rio reported another similar case. On that occasion, seven computers and a cell phone were stolen during a seminar break. Cameras broadcasting the presentation captured the moment when a man, still unidentified, left the scene with electronics in his backpack.
