Possibility that Claudia will not attend the third debate – El Financiero

The third and final presidential debate, to be held on May 19, represents the last opportunity for the three candidates to demonstrate their abilities to undecided, apathetic and young voters, and thereby win their votes in the elections on May 2. June.

Both Claudia Sheinbaum and former head of the capital government, in the opinion of some radicals from Morena and the close circle of President López Obrador, the desire to be absent from the third debate, since she has enough margin in the polls to afford that luxury.

The topic to be discussed in the exercise of verbal fencing is in itself complicated for the ruling party’s candidate, since they are the most sensitive topics for the population such as insecurity and organized crime; migration and foreign policy; democracy, pluralism and division of powers, where Xóchitl Gálvez keeps his most lethal missiles to wreck the 4T ship.

It must be remembered that the democratic regime and the division of powers suffer constant harassment by the head of the federal Executive, and this is irrefutable and cannot be hidden with lies or half-truths.

The furious attacks launched by the main guest of the National Palace against the Judiciary, electoral authorities and ministers of the Supreme Court, in addition to the attempt to limit or disappear the autonomous organizations that serve as counterweights to presidentialism, are just some of the death rattles of the totalitarianism that López Obrador has tried to establish.

We are experiencing the most violent electoral process in history, registering 386 political attacks that have left 501 victims from September 2023 to April 21, according to a report by Integralia, which indicates that in 15 entities in the country there is the founded risk of organized crime intervening in the election.

Regarding public insecurity, we will say that the country reeks of death, given that it has been the bloodiest in terms of homicides, with 185,606 murders and there are still five months left until the current administration ends.

Disappearances and displaced people also present unprecedented negative figures that are impossible to deny, since the data comes from official sources of López Obrador’s own government.

Faced with this Dantesque scenario, the official candidate has to deal, since one thing is white and candid lies, and another is trying to hide what is happening throughout the national territory where vast regions of the country are in the hands of criminals.

I can already imagine the meaning of Xóchitl Gálvez’s attacks against his political opponent and if what happened last Sunday in the second debate, red alerts went off in the war room of the “scientific”, I don’t want to imagine what is coming in the third debate.

For this reason, the convenience of not appearing in the debate and assuming the political costs and economic sanctions of the INE is being considered from now on, in order to prevent them from “insulting” Claudia Sheinbaum again.

The accusations of corruption issued by the Hidalgo woman against the former delegate of Tlalpan are duly supported, so in no way are they unfounded attacks and it is expected that more revelations will continue to fall that will subtract points in the polls and votes on election day.

The costs and risks of being absent from the third debate are contrasted with the wear and tear that comes with exposing it to Xóchitl and Jorge Álvarez Máynez, which is why keeping it under protection and away from the crossfire of its adversaries is very seriously valued.

Given the obligation imposed by the INE on the presidential standard-bearers to attend the three debates, it crosses the minds of those advisors at the top in the polls to assume the fines and sanctions of the electoral authority.

The absence of the PRD member Andrés Manuel López Obrador, on April 25, 2006, in the presidential debate attended by Felipe Calderón, of the PAN, is fresh in the collective memory; Roberto Madrazo, from the PRI; Patricia Mercado, for the PSD, and Roberto Campa, for Nueva Alianza.

The result of this disdain by the Tabasco native to his adversaries, to the electoral authority and above all to the voters, had disastrous consequences in the presidential vote that year, where he lost by a very narrow margin.

Given this historical background, Claudia Sheinbaum herself, presidential candidate for Morena, PT and PVEM, does not want to concede anything to her rivals and therefore, she says, there is no possibility of her being absent from the missing debate. We’ll see, said a blind man.
