Rio City Hall announced the suspension of shows this Wednesday (8), on the same day as ticket sales opened, when several people had already purchased their tickets. In a video, Mayor Eduardo Paes highlighted that, due to the proximity of the dates to the municipal election, the organizing company will not have authorization from the municipality and the competent bodies, and as a result, the event cannot take place.
According to the President of Procon-RJ, Cássio Coelho, consumers who have already purchased tickets cannot be harmed. Citing articles 20 and 35 of the Consumer Protection Code, Coelho emphasizes that the company responsible for the sale must offer a full refund, grant credit for use in another event or guarantee tickets for new dates, if the show is rescheduled.
“We hope that the company responsible for the show and the city hall reach an agreement on holding the event on another possible date, minimizing the current situation. Consumers who feel harmed can also register their complaint individually through the service channels available on the authority’s official website: www.procon.rj.gov.br or WhatsApp for complaints: (21) 98104-5445”, explains Coelho.
According to the state Secretary of Consumer Protection, Gutemberg Fonseca, Procon-RJ teams are on duty to serve consumers. “It is important for fans to know that the Consumer Protection Code, in its article 35, determines that the consumer has the right to an immediate refund of the amounts and the event organizer has the obligation to disclose clearly, immediately and precisely regarding the refund. ticket prices,” he said.
