The federal government will make the withdrawal of medicines from the Farmácia Popular program more flexible to allow patients who lost products during the floods that hit Rio Grande do Sul to replenish their stock. The announcement was made this Thursday (9) by the Minister of Health, Nísia Trindade. The tragedy in the state has already left 107 confirmed deaths and one under investigation, according to a Civil Defense bulletin. The number of injured rose to 754 and 134 were missing.
“At Farmácia Popular, lost medicines can be replaced with a second withdrawal. The measures are in addition to the sending of priority medicines that we had already made. We have to guarantee the continuity of treatments and supplies for all services in Rio Grande do Sul! “, wrote the minister in a post on social media.
The federal ministry also announced the sending, by next Sunday (12), of more emergency kits to serve up to 300,000 people for 15 days. The kits include 32 types of medicine and 16 types of supplies, such as gloves and syringes, and will be sent to 100 health units in Rio Grande do Sul.

Faced with the public calamity situation faced in the State, the government of Rio Grande do Sul reactivated the donation channel for the “SOS Rio Grande do Sul” account to receive donations via Pix that will be donated to the victims.

The management and supervision of resources will be the responsibility of a Management Committee, chaired by the Civil House Secretariat and composed of representatives from government bodies and social entities. The resources will be fully used for humanitarian support for flood victims and for the reconstruction of the cities’ infrastructure.
