He said that was the game he always played, and it inspired him to purchase a ticket immediately after he did. He said he was stunned when he started scratching off the results.
“It was like an out-of-body experience,” he told lottery officials. “It was crazy. I wouldn’t have bought it if the customer in front of me hadn’t.”
The big win could potentially be a life-change for the South Carolina player.
“I’m using it to start a business,” he said of his plans. The $200,000 total is the top prize in the Double Sided Dollar Extra Play game with the odds of winning of 1 in 750,000.
The Happy Liquor Store also came out victorious, scoring a $2,000 commission for selling the winning ticket.
After both giving away grand jackpots of more than $1 billion recently, Mega Millions and Powerball are both offering more modest totals this weekend. Mega Millions Friday drawing stands at $228 million with a cash prize of $103.4 million cash payout.
Powerball’s drawing is Saturday with a jackpot of $149 million and a cash payout of $68.8 million.
