“Samuel and the Light” feature film awarded by the ILO in Colombia | Paraty

Feature film Samuel and the Light, marks the arrival of electricity in a caiçara community in ParatyDisclosure/Paraty City Hall

Paraty – From the daily life of the family of Elizeu dos Remédios and Sueli Ramos, to the cinema screens, the feature film “Samuel and Light”, was awarded this Sunday (21) by the International Labor Organization (ILO), at the 63rd Cartagena Film Festival, Colombia.

Directed by director Vinícius Girnys, the film addresses the impact of the arrival of electricity on the Caiçara community, in the Ponta Negra neighborhood, in Paraty, on the Costa Verde. The film narrates the daily life of a caiçara family, and is being shown in 22 countries. The film, produced by Le-Lokal Production and Sandero Filmes, will premiere at the historic city’s first International Film Festival, between August 1st and 4th this year.

The ILO is an international organization of the United Nations, and its objective is to promote social justice throughout the world. The film promotes the message of decent work and the importance of representation and workers’ rights, meeting the highest standards of audiovisual, human and cinematographic quality.
