Second heat wave in Mexico, between unbearable sun and heavy rain: When will it end?

This concentration of contaminants was responsible for two environmental contingencies in the Valley of Mexicodecreed on April 30 and May 3 respectivelyin both cases caused by the concentration of ozone particles.

Although some states suffer the consequences of the heat waveothers are also seriously affected by heavy rains, one of them is Puebla, which this Sunday, May 5, reported the closure of some road sections due to hail.

Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas also suffer from the risk of heavy rains, which is why the Meteorological Service of the National Water Commission (Conagua) reported that The formation of whirlwinds or tornadoes is possible.

When does the second heat wave end in Mexico?

According to Conagua, the forecast is that the second heat wave in Mexico ends on Monday, May 6; however, the phenomenon can extend depending on the development of the anticyclonic system and other factors.

For this Monday climatic conditions in much of the country will continue to be hotand this is the forecast:

  • Maximum temperatures above 45 degrees: San Luis Potosí, Michoacán, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Veracruz, Tabasco and Campeche.
  • Maximum temperatures of 40 to 45 degrees: Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Morelos and Yucatán.
  • Maximum temperatures of 35 to 40 degrees: Baja California Sur, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Hidalgo, State of Mexico, Puebla and Quintana Roo.
  • Maximum temperatures of 30 to 35 degrees: Baja California, Mexico City and Tlaxcala.

What is the rain forecast for the week?

Throughout the week, rain will gradually be present in the country, and although no downpours are expected, hail and electric shocks are possible. These are entities affected by rains Over the next week:

  • Intervals of showers with occasional heavy rains (25 to 50 millimeters): Coahuila, Tlaxcala, Puebla, Veracruz and Oaxaca.
  • Shower intervals (5 to 25 millimeters): Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Hidalgo, Mexico City, State of Mexico, Morelos and Chiapas.
  • Isolated rain (0.1 to 5 millimeters): Baja California, San Luis Potosí, Querétaro, Guanajuato, Guerrero and Quintana Roo.
