Paraíba do Sul – The Secretary of Environment and Agrarian Development, Luana Souza, together with her team, visited the works at the Itaipava Sewage Treatment Station (ETE) and also the Piabanha Sewage Treatment Station (ETE), last week.

The visit began at the ETE Itaipava works, in the final phase of implementation, where the secretary could see the progress of the work up close and understand each phase of sewage treatment. The unit occupies only 25% of the area of a conventional ETE, with greater efficiency in results. This is due to the technology used, which guarantees maximum efficiency from construction to station operation. With the capacity to treat up to 2.5 million liters of sewage per day, the vertical model, with state-of-the-art equipment, is identical to the one being built in Paraíba do Sul.

The visit was led by the director of the concessionaires Águas da Condessa and Águas do Imperador, João Henrique Tebyriça de Sá, and included the participation of the Engineering coordinator, Alessandra Nunes, as well as the representative of Tigre Água e Efluentes, the company contracted to carry out the work, Fagner Batalha.

“We were very happy to welcome the secretary and her entire team to talk a little about the works that, without a doubt, are great achievements for the population that will have access to quality basic sanitation. A Sewage Treatment Plant represents, above all, health and quality of life”, highlighted João Henrique Tebyriça de Sá, director of the Águas da Condessa concessionaire.

To finish, the team was at ETE Piabanha, in the Bingen neighborhood. Opened in 2012, the unit was the first in Brazil to use an aeration system, which increases treatment efficiency and reduces energy consumption by 30%. Another peculiarity is that the station is located opposite two hospitals, one public and one private. At the site, visitors were received by the Operations supervisor, Josué Barbosa, and the Station operator, Thiago Amaral, and were able to see the entire treatment process up close, free from noise and odors, in addition to appreciating the landscaping, which integrates the unit in the middle where it was erected.

“It was essential for us to be here today to get to know the entire process up close and understand how it will be implemented in our city. It is crucial that we can explain to the population the benefits of the Sewage Treatment Plant, both for quality of life and for the environment. Furthermore, we brought interns so that they have the opportunity to learn and get involved in this very relevant project”, highlighted Luana Souza, Secretary of Environment and Agrarian Development of Paraíba do Sul.

Also participating in the visit were the Undersecretary of Environment and Agrarian Development of Paraíba do Sul, Ramon Damian, the advisor of the Secretariat of Environment and Agrarian Development, Vivian Curcio, the Sustainability leader of Águas do Imperador, Leila Arrighi, the Regional Commercial Manager , Carla Guedes, the Commercial coordinator of Águas da Condessa, Ana Paula Esposti and the Commercial leader of Águas da Condessa, Percy Cunha.
