The deadline to regularize the electoral situation and be able to participate in this year’s municipal election is May 8. The elections will define the new mayors, vice-mayors and councilors of 5,500 cities. The first round will be held on October 6th and the second, if any, on the 27th of the same month.
Until the deadline, it is possible to obtain a voter registration card, request a transfer of residence and update registration data. For those who already have their biometrics registered in the Electoral Justice system, regularization can be done online, on the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) online portal.
However, the deadline for voters without registered biometric data to regularize their situation online ended on the 8th. Therefore, they need to request assistance in person at the electoral offices.
Likewise, the electoral situation can be consulted both virtually and in person by citizens. If the electoral registration is cancelled, it is necessary to request regularization so that the voter registration card is available to vote in the election.
This situation of cancellation occurs when the voter fails to comply with rules relating to qualification and domicile, fails to attend three successive elections and fails to justify his absence or pay the fines. Furthermore, according to the Electoral Code, it is possible to have the title canceled in the case of fraudulent registration, multiple electoral registrations, loss of political rights, absence from the electorate review or death.
