Smash involving Mercedes and Renault in Thanet sparks police probe

A crash involving a Mercedes and a Renault – whereby one driver reportedly failed to stop – has prompted a police probe.

Officers were called to the collision on the A299 Thanet Way near the St Nicholas-at-Wade roundabout, Birchington, just after 5pm yesterday.

It was reported the driver of the grey Mercedes failed to stop after being involved in a smash with a red Renault.

The suspect is said to have then driven along Canterbury Road towards Birchington, where they were involved in crashes with at least two other vehicles.

Paramedics also attended the incident and no serious injuries were reported.

Enquiries to locate the driver of the Mercedes are ongoing and police are appealing to witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, to come forward.
