THE maximum temperatures continue to rise this Friday. According to Meteo Franceat the hottest time of the afternoon, the thermometer would display at least 20°C everywhere.
Going south and specifically southeast, temperatures will rise more and more. This situation occurs with clear skies almost everywhere. Only Hauts-de-France and the Ardennes should be under clouds in the afternoon. A few showers are also possible to the east and south of the Alps.
In the northern part of the country, at the hottest time of the day, around 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., it is expected to be 20°C to 25°C, or 5°C warmer than season averages. The heat threshold bar, set at 25°C, will therefore be crossed locally, particularly in the Centre-Val de Loire region. In the southern part of the country, it will be 22°C-23°C to 30°C locally, up to 8°C more than the norm, or even a little more.
The four departments where it will be the hottest are Hautes-Pyrénées, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Landes and Gers. In the Hautes-Pyrénées, it is the Tarbes sector where the mercury will rise the most. It will be around 28°C with a slightly higher feeling.
In Gers, the situation will be the same in the surroundings of Auch. It will also be 28°C there with a slightly higher feeling.
In the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, the level rises another notch or two further inland. In the Orthez and Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port sectors, the 30°C mark will be reached. This corresponds to the high heat threshold. Such a temperature level is approximately 5°C higher than what is expected on average… in the heart of summer. Furthermore, in these two localities, the feeling will clearly exceed 30°C.
In the Landes, the thermometer should reach 29°C around Dax. The feeling will be above 30°C.
Saturday, again under clear skies, temperatures should remain of the same order in the South-West.
