Suspect hospitalized after Auburn Gresham break-in

CHICAGO — Police say a man is hospitalized and another is in custody after an alleged break-in on the city’s Far South Side.

According to Chicago police, it all unfolded just before 2 p.m. on Tuesday in the 8000 block of South Carpenter Street, in Auburn Gresham.

Officers say two men allegedly broke into a residence in the area where two women and a man live. Once inside, the suspects allegedly battered the man who lived in the home and stole property.

The suspects then fled the scene on foot, but police say during their escape, one of the men suffered a gunshot wound.
