Taylor Swift fans think two songs on her new album are about Travis Kelce. One song fans believed is tied to the NFL player is “The Albatross.”
“Cautions issued, he stood / Shooting the messengers / They tried to warn him about her, “ Swift sings on “The Albatross. “Cross your thoughtless heart / Only liquor anoints you / She’s the albatross / She is here to destroy you.”
“Devils that you know / Raise worse hell than a stranger / She’s the death you chose / You’re in terrible danger,” she sings.
One fan on TikTok said that people thought that dating Kelce would not be good for him in the long run.
“Everybody was telling Travis, ‘Be careful, don’t get with her. She’ll ruin your career,’” one social media user said. “‘Are you paying attention to football? Is she weighing you down? Is he no longer good because he’s dating Taylor Swift?’ That was the entire middle part of their relationship when everybody was so pissed they saw her on the screen.
This is not the first time Swift has debunked the naysayers. During her TIME interview last year when she was named Person of the Year.
“We actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other,” she told TIME back in December. “By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”
However, when the cameras and lights did make their way to Swift during her visits many “Brads and Chads” made a fuss which the Grammy winner just brushed off.
“I’m just there to support Travis,” Swift said. “I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”
“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” she told the publication.
“The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone,” she added. “We’re just proud of each other.”
Taylor Swift Fans Believe “So High School” Is About Travis Kelce
Another song on the album that fans believed is tied to Kelce is, “So High School.”
“Truth or dare, spin bottles / You know how to ball, I know Aristotle / Brand new, full throttle / Touch me when your bros play Grand Theft Auto,” Swift sings in the second verse of the song referring to when someone asked of their relationship and Kelce used the phrase “full throttle.”
“To really dive into a relationship with somebody, it’s going to take some time. You really gotta know somebody to take that step with somebody and be committed and be in full throttle,” Kelce, 34, replied. “I can’t meet somebody and immediately be, like, ‘Forever is just a day away.’”
“I feel like laughing in the middle of practice / To that impression you did of your dad again / I’m hearing voices like a madman,” she also sings in the song referring to when her dad and Kelce went to see her on her Eras Tour.
Another little hint on the song is her referencing an old interview when a reporter asked if he would “marry kiss or kill her.”
