The analyst’s body was buried late this Monday afternoon (22), at the Cacuia Cemetery, on Ilha do Governador, North Zone of Rio. Shaken by the tragedy, the victim’s family, friends and co-workers attended the ceremony farewell and got emotional when talking about her.
Caroline Mancini, the victim’s sister, said that she suffered a lot before she died. “The report contains around 114 or 124 injuries on her body, it also mentions torture. It was a brutal crime. I can’t close my eyes… I can only think about how she suffered to die”, says Caroline, who lives in Espírito Santo and traveled to Rio de Janeiro to collaborate with investigations at the Police Station Specialized in Women’s Assistance (Deam) and say goodbye to her sister, who lived in Nova Friburgo.
According to the family member, Karen suffered from domestic violence for five years and was constantly advised by her family to end her relationship with Clodoaldo. “We advised her to end the relationship, but she pushed us away because she thought that at times he was good for her. And so she lived in this conflictive relationship. One day she would be beaten, the next he would give her food in her mouth, massage her feet. .. that confused her”, explains Caroline. In 2023, the victim obtained a protective measure against her partner, but soon got back into a relationship with him.
Karen developed depression after the loss of her parents and, according to her sister, this fact contributed to her being manipulated by Clodoaldo. “He took advantage of this and always managed to manipulate her with this false love.”
The analyst was remembered during the wake as being a happy, relaxed and sociable person. “My sister was happy, relaxed. Because I was shyer, she was able to socialize with me. She was very intelligent too, she went on to 16 competitions. A brilliant person.”
Suspect was arrested while trying to escape
Clodoaldo had been on the run since Sunday night (21), after a temporary arrest warrant was issued against him. According to the Military Police, agents from the 11th BPM (Nova Friburgo) received a tip indicating that the suspect was collecting belongings to escape. At the scene, he was found boarding the bus and taken to the Women’s Assistance Police Station (Deam) in the region.
Clodoaldo was also known in the region as Gustavo, the name he used to perform as a musician in the region. Karen was found dead inside her house on Estrada Homem de Gouveia, in Lumiar, Nova Friburgo, in the Serrana region of Rio. According to the report from the Legal Medical Institute (IML), the cause of death was “head trauma as a result of forceful action.”
