President Andrés Manuel López Obrador proposed to the Congress of the Union the extinction of seven organizations autonomous constitutional with the argument of “republican austerity” and that they supposedly do not serve the interests of the people.

While it proposes transferring the powers and powers of the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (INAI) to the Secretariat of Public Function regarding the federal public administration; to the control and disciplinary body of the Judiciary; to the control bodies of the autonomous constitutional bodies; and to the comptrollers of the Congress of the Unionin their respective areas of competence.
While, proposes to transfer the powers and powers of the National Council for Evaluation of Social Development Policy (CONEVAL) to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI); and the coordinated regulatory bodies in energy matters, such as the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) and the National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH) to the Ministry of Energy.

The President López Obrador’s initiative does not affect the Attorney General’s Office nor the National Human Rights Commission, headed by Alejandro Gertz Manero and Rosario Piedra Ibarra, both related to Morena; nor does it affect the Bank of Mexico.

“A time for dialogue and debate opens, characteristics of the democracy prevailing in our country. This is how we understand it with this proposal that the Head of the Federal Executive makes the Legislature with his package of initiativesone of which directly concerns us,” they said.
