National leaders and parliamentary leaders of the opposition of the PAN, PRI and PRD in the Chamber of Deputies announced that they will exert “pressure” on the Ministry of Public Education (SEP)to go for the Try Pisa of the OECD.

The president of the Political Coordination Board and parliamentary coordinator of the PAN in the Lower House, Jorge Romerostated that “the PISA test is a global benchmark for evaluating the preparation of students, in order to be able to face the challenges of the real world and provide useful and comparative data between different countries.”

Therefore, “it is alarming that we seek to avoid this evaluation of education in our country, since this would make it difficult to identify areas for improvement and strengthen educational quality. Without evaluation of education, there is no improvement,” he said.
The national leader of the PRD, Jesus Zambranoand its parliamentary coordinator in San Lázaro, Francisco Huacusstated in a statement that “it is essential that the National Education Plan “Guarantee quality in Mexican education and not disqualify from the presidential pulpit the tests that are carried out and that help measure student performance.”
The PRI leader, Ruben Moreiraargued that “the lag is unconcealable, the Morena government does not require it to be recognized and that is why it opposes an OECD evaluation.”
