Rio – After starring as the romantic Labibe, in the soap opera “Mar do Sertão” (2022), Theresa Fonseca once again gained prominence on the small screen as Mariana, in “Renascer”, a nine o’clock serial on TV Globo. The 26-year-old actress celebrates the character’s success and admits the challenge of giving life to Belarmino’s (Antonio Calloni) granddaughter, who in recent chapters has already begged to stay with José Pedro (Juan Paiva), returned to her husband José Inocêncio’s farm ( Marcos Palmeira) and even dressed as Maria Santa (Duda Santos) to have a night of love with the farmer.

“I’m living a very happy moment professionally. And Mariana is certainly one of the reasons for my happiness. She’s a challenging and complex character, but human. And that’s what excites me so much about her. I can say that I’m living literally for her. From Monday to Monday. I usually record from Monday to Saturday, but Sundays are for studying, preparing for the week, I’m dedicated and focused”, says the artist, who says she doesn’t have much in common with the role.

“We are very different. Mariana is a character that we are discovering little by little, we are understanding who she is, what she wants, what her motivations are… I am very transparent (laughs). If there is something I don’t like, I speak. If I want to praise, I praise. I’m not one to go around and around to say what I feel, which is precious to me. I don’t like everything said and explained. … In fact, for me, its complexity is in this place. It confuses us and I believe it also confuses itself”, he says.

Theresa’s resourcefulness on paper has the web buzzing. She receives countless compliments from internet users for her talent and does not hide her happiness with so much affection from the public. “I’ve never been the social media girl, who lives with her cell phone in her hand. I tend to live and, if I post, because there are times when I don’t post, only later. I’m even trying to be more active, because I love the interaction with the public, especially with the group that loves soap operas. I am very happy with the affection, with the messages that arrive with affection. I really believe in this type of exchange: that of affection. of them to send me a message and follow my work.”

The artist also comments that she would like to have more feedback from people about the character. “I would love to have more feedback on the streets about Mariana, but I haven’t been going out. And it’s really true. My life is structured to do this work. I record and study. I study and record (laughs). But I saw people on the internet who they don’t understand her and people who, if they don’t defend her, defend me (laughs). I saw people praising her work and I’m very happy. But I definitely wouldn’t say that she confuses people and that bothers her. to understand more who Mariana is”, he declares.

Divided between father and son

In the soap opera, Mariana finds herself torn between two loves, that of João Pedro and José Inocêncio. In real life, the actress says she has never been in a similar situation. “No, it never happened!” she stresses. She also celebrates her professional partnership with Juan and Marcos in the soap opera. “Two great actors that I have the privilege of sharing the scene with. Juan and Marcos are very talented. And having the two of them as partners, that makes all the difference to the result we have on the scene. And actors with characters built in detail , it’s nice to see them acting.”

Regarding the sex scenes, Theresa says she doesn’t see any problems. “There is great care taken by the team to ensure that the actors feel comfortable in certain sequences. But the sex scenes, they are dense scenes like so many others that we need to record. You need to know the positioning of the light, the text, the location of the camera, the choreography, because there is a choreography of movements… As professionals, we are thinking about a thousand things. I don’t see any problem if the scene has a purpose, a real purpose for the story.”

‘Iconic soap opera’

During her preparation, Theresa only watched a few scenes from the original version of ‘Renascer’, shown in 1993. At the time, the character was played by Adriana Esteves. “‘Renascer’ is an iconic soap opera and, since the announcement of this new version, the internet has been full of scenes and memories. But I didn’t want to see the soap opera itself, because we are doing a retelling – we are telling a story thirty years later. And a lot of things changed in that period. I wanted to have the freedom to build my Mariana, who lives in that time. My preparation was to study the text a lot, the information contained between the lines of our author Bruno Luperi, listening carefully to what our direction had. in mind and study a lot this universe in which it is inserted”, he explains.

In the first version of the work, Mariana assumes that she killed Teodoro, who at this stage is called Egídio (Vladimir Brichta), in the final stretch of the plot. Theresa, however, says that she has no information about this scene. “I don’t really know anything about what will happen to her. I only know up to the chapters that I recorded and will record. I have no idea what Bruno will do. ‘Renascer’ is a retelling, so I believe the public may be surprised by a lot of things But only Bruno knows the future of the characters.”

‘I really value sincerity’

Even with the intense recording routine, Theresa likes to maintain lightness in her daily life. “Of course, this is often not possible, but if I can look at the glass more full than empty, that’s my view. I really like and value sincerity, transparency with myself and with others. I love my family, and they are my base for everything. I love traveling, discovering new cultures. I love fashion, I grew up watching my mother work in this world and I also love it. We are so many things in one, that’s the truth”, he says.

‘Sun Warriors’

Theresa will also be in the cast of “Guerreiros do Sol”, Globoplay’s next original soap opera, scheduled to premiere this year on the streaming platform. “‘Guerreiros do Sol’ is already recorded. I recorded it before ‘Renascer.’ In the final stretch of Guerreiros, I actually recorded both works at the same time. I can’t say much, but it’s a very interesting character, very different from Mariana, from Labibe (from Mar do Sertão). the public will like it. A powerful and engaging story”, declares the actress, who will play Alderiza in the plot.

The cast of the serial, an adaptation of the story of Lampião and Maria Bonita, also includes other great actors, such as Isadora Cruz, Alinne Moraes, Nathalia Dill, Alexandre Nero, Daniel de Oliveira and Irandhir Santos.
