Antonio Padilla, the president of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) in Jalisco, He reported that he was denied protection by electoral and state authorities.

He made this known on social networks and indicated that he informed the National Electoral Institute (INE) about their vulnerable situation.

”After publicly denouncingand threats and attacks against PRI candidates, I informed the INE of the vulnerable situation in which we found ourselves and requested protection. The INE turned the case over to the Government of Jalisco. Today the Jalisco authorities notified us that they do not agree to provide us protection”, the PRI member shared on networks.

Padilla shared a letter addressed to him, where Federico Parra Pérez, coordinator of the State Protection Service, informed him that according to an analysis carried out on the protection requestit was determined that it was inappropriate to provide the requested service.

In the letter it was detailed that there are other alternatives to reinforce their security, whether state or municipal. The PRI member considered this response lazy.

”There is no doubt, this government is ineffective and indolent, the people of Jalisco have been left alone. I ask again for the attention of the INE Mexico and the Government of Mexico and we hold the state authorities responsible for any attack on me and/or the candidates of our coalition,” Padilla stated.

Padilla denounces insecurity of the candidates

Since March, the PRI has positioned itself regarding the wave of violence experienced in the 2024 elections. He posted on the social network ‘X’ that he notified the Government of Jalisco about threats in 15 municipalities against his candidates. ”We didn’t get answers,” she said.

He added that on March 15, Humberto Amezcua, mayor of Pihuamo, notified them that he was being threatened.

”I personally notified the State Government, asking them for protection. “They didn’t answer me all day,” he said. He added that hours later Humberto was murdered and it could have been avoided.
