Two local schools went on a secure-in-place status Friday morning after Erie police said they were seeking an armed domestic violence suspect who was on foot.
Officers were sent to a report of a felony menacing and domestic violence assault at 8:07 a.m. near Erie Parkway and County Line Road, according to Amber Luttrell, Erie public information officer.
Police arrived at 8:14 a.m. and started securing the area. The suspect left home on foot a minute later, according to Luttrell.
At 8:23 a.m., Erie requested that nearby schools, Red Hawk Elementary School and Aspen Ridge Prep School, implement a secure-in-place status, according to Luttrell. At 8:24 a.m., police also deployed drones and K9s to find the suspect.
Around 9 a.m., Erie police notified nearby residents that there was a danger to the public because an armed domestic violence suspect was still at large, according to the Erie Police Department’s post on the social media site X.
