Rio – A driver caught several pedestrians carrying out physical activities in the exclusive lane of the BRT Transcarioca, close to the Guaporé station, in Penha, North Zone of the city. Through a video, which was made last Tuesday (7), it is possible to follow around 12 people traveling at night on the track, which is on Avenida Brás De Pina.

The majority of the group that appears in the images is running in the opposite direction to traffic, but there are also people walking on the other side of the exclusive lane.
There is no information whether the BRT was operating at the time of the incident. In a statement, Mobi-Rio said that “according to the Brazilian Traffic Code, pedestrians are prohibited from remaining or walking on the roadways, except to cross them where permitted”.
The company also informed that the MOBI-Rio Operational Control Center monitors the exclusive lane and that it calls BRT Seguro teams to remove pedestrians or cyclists when an incident is noticed.
“MOBI emphasizes that it carries out constant awareness campaigns about the risk of invasion of the exclusive lane and the importance of respecting traffic rules”, concluded the note.
