Spain – Vini Jr expressed his support for Spanish striker Nico Williams, from Athletic Bilbao, who was a victim of racism by Atlético de Madrid fans, in the match between the teams, last Saturday (27), which ended in a 3-win victory 1 of the Colchoneros. The Brazilian also charged LaLiga, the entity that organizes the Spanish Championship, for actions.
“Until when???”, wrote Vini Jr, in a post on social media.

The case
In the 37th minute of the match between Atlético de Madrid and Athletic Bilbao, when taking a corner, when the duel was 1-0 for the home team, the player Nico Williams, who is Spanish and is called up for his country’s national team, complained about racist attacks and informed the referee.
The judge then followed protocol and asked them to warn, via loudspeaker, that prejudiced acts are prohibited and must stop. From then on, every time Nico touched the ball he started to receive boos.
The response on the field came later. In the 45th minute, after Griezmann badly missed a retreat, Athletic reached a draw with a goal from Nico Williams, who, when celebrating, made a point of pointing to his skin and responding to the racists present in the stadium in the Spanish capital.
It is not the first time that Atlético de Madrid fans have chanted racist chants at a player at the Metropolitano Stadium. Vini Jr is constantly the target of Colchoreno fans, especially when there is the Madrid derby at Atléti’s home.
