Volta Redonda City Hall and MRS sign authorization to continue infrastructure works | Volta Redonda

Authorization document for urban mobility works was signed in Mayor Neto’s officeCris Oliveira/Secom PMVR

Volta Redonda – The mayor of Volta Redonda, Antonio Francisco Neto, and representatives of MRS Logística – which manages the railway operation in the city – signed this month the releases for the continuation of two important infrastructure works: the construction of a footbridge next to Avenida Radial Leste , connecting the Vila Americana and Água Limpa neighborhoods; and the access loop to the Heitor Leite Franco viaduct, in Aterrado, which is being built within the set of interventions of the Urban Mobility Plan, implemented by the State Government. With the authorizations, works will be able to continue in areas managed by the company.

“These releases were necessary and we were able to move forward. These are two important works that will remain as a legacy for residents and those who visit Volta Redonda. The walkway will bring more safety and practicality for those traveling between Vila Americana and Água Limpa, and the loop at Heitor Leite Franco will improve traffic in Aterrado, especially during peak hours”, highlighted Mayor Neto during the signing, which took place in his office, also attended by the president of the Volta Redonda Urban Research and Planning Institute (IPPU-VR), Abimaílton Pratti da Silva.

With around 80% of the work completed, the next stage in the construction of a new walkway next to Avenida Radial Leste, in the Vila Americana neighborhood, in Volta Redonda, will be the lifting of the metal part over the MRS area and, subsequently, placement of the flooring sheets, handrails and painting. According to the company responsible for construction, the teams are scheduling the day to start the services and, once they begin, completion is expected to take approximately 30 days.

The city hall work, carried out by an outsourced company and supervised by the Municipal Infrastructure Secretariat (SMI), aims to facilitate circulation and ensure the safety of residents passing through the stretch of avenue, and will connect Vila Americana to the Água Limpa neighborhood .

The work began with the construction of a 65-meter section of new walkway in a metallic structure, connecting it to the current Radial Leste walkway, supported by metal pillars. There is also a 90º connection with the viaduct, over a distance of eight meters. After the work is completed, the new walkway will be interconnected with the current one – 118 meters long – anchored to the Radial Leste viaduct.

“The access to the Radial Leste walkway connecting the Aero Clube to Vila Americana, descending onto Rua Argentina, will remain. What will be expanded is the continuation of the path via footbridge to Água Limpa, benefiting those who live and work in this region”, highlighted the municipal secretary of Infrastructure, Poliana Moreira.

The other release signed was for the launch of the beams that will be part of the access loop track of the Heitor Leite Franco Viaduct, in Aterrado. The urban mobility work, supported by resources from the state government, is in the construction phase of the last concrete pillar that will support the vehicle lane.

Once ready, the loop will create an alternative so that drivers have the option of going down Rua Mario César Di Biase (known as Avenida do Canal), bypassing the central region of Aterrado.
