Volta Redonda – Volta Redonda Health Surveillance began inspections of drugstores, establishments that sell hospital products, supermarkets and commerce in general last Thursday (2) with the aim of removing 70% alcohol packaging in its liquid form from circulation. The sale of the product has been suspended since April 30th by Resolution of the Collegiate Board (RDC) number 766/2022 of Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency).
Because it is highly flammable and poses a risk to people’s physical integrity, such as severe burns in the event of accidents, 70% liquid alcohol was banned from sale in 2002. However, with the Covid-19 pandemic, this type of ethyl alcohol had the ban relaxed in recent years.
According to the coordinator of Health Surveillance, Carlos Amaro Chicarino de Carvalho, in general, the establishments inspected have complied with Anvisa’s resolution, as only 27 1-liter packages and 40 500 ml packages of 70% alcohol have been seized so far. in liquid form.
“Inspection will continue to ensure that all stocks are removed from the market. Any commercial establishment that is caught selling or marketing these products will be subject to immediate recall, in addition to other applicable penalties,” said Carlos Amaro.
