What ‘changes’ were made to the ruling and why was its discussion postponed? – The financial

The discussion in the Plenary Session of the Chamber of Deputies of the reform initiative for the Pension Fund for Welfare, which aims to direct the inactive resources of workers over 70 years of age, in the case of the IMSS, and 75 in the case of the ISSSTE, was suspended and postponed to next Monday, April 22 after accusations from legislators, who stated that the ruling presented was not the same as the one that had previously been approved by the Social Security Commission.

In that sense, deputies of the National Action Party (PAN) They stated that an essential paragraph was deleted in which it was specified that the Afore resources that would be directed to the Pension Fund for Welfare, If the initiative is approved, it would only be those from inactive accounts.

“In the event that the worker reaches seventy-five years of age without him and, where applicable, his beneficiaries having exercised their right to receive the resources described in this article, the Housing Fund must transfer them to the Pension Fund for Wellbeing. . The above will not be applicable to the resources of the individual accounts of those workers who have an active employment relationship with the Institute,” said the initiative approved by a majority last Monday, April 15 in the Social Security Commission of the Chamber of Deputies.

However, the document presented on April 17 before the Plenary stated the following: “In the event that the worker reaches seventy-five years of age without him and, where applicable, his beneficiaries having exercised their right to receive the resources described in this article, the Housing Fund must transfer them to the Pension Fund for Welfare.”

Given this ‘misunderstanding’, the pension reform will be reviewed again in the Social Security Commission, whose members called for an extraordinary session on Thursday, April 18 so that it is approved again and the opinion can be returned to the Plenary, with the conditions previously accepted, that is, that only the inactive resources of older Mexican adults can be taken for the Solidarity Fund.

Likewise, the legislators stated that said document presented “at least 10 illegal changes to the already approved opinion.” However, Morena’s deputies who are promoting the initiative, Ignacio Mier and Ivonne Cisneros, assured that the problem with the opinion was a “human error”, so there was no bad intention in presenting an unapproved text.
