After the head of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC), Felipe de Jesús Gallowill declare that Mexico is ‘the champion’ of fentanyl productionthe Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (FGR) issued a clarification about what the official said during a public event on April 23.
Through a statement, the FGR indicated that the head of the AIC “used an inappropriate word to highlight the long history and magnitude of the fight against synthetic drugs in Mexico” during his speech at the Multilateral Conference on Synthetic Drugs, held in Mexico City (CDMX).
“It is evident that said word, which was taken by the AP and a Mexican media, was inappropriate; and, because of this, Master Gallo publicly apologizes; explaining that the purpose, in which he obviously should not have used that word, was to highlight the long legal battle that our country has had to carry out to combat the production, transfer and export of synthetic drugs“, explained the agency.
In the morning, during his morning conference, the president Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) He described it as “alarmist” to claim that Mexico is the champion in the production of fentanyl, which is why he asked the Prosecutor’s Office to clarify this matter.
The FGR detailed that in his speech, the public servant made reference to the coordination between North American agencies and joint investigations, which have allowed large seizures of drugs and weaponswith the help of the Mexican Armed Forces and the National Guard.
In this context, he said, Felipe de Jesús Gallo “warned of all the dangers posed by international networks that try to industrialize the production and export of drugs.”
Finally, the Criminal Investigation Agency undertook to punctually take care of the information it emits so that a situation similar to what happened with the official is not repeated.

What did the head of the AIC say about fentanyl in Mexico?
Gallo, who was participating in a Mexican-American conference on synthetic drugs in CDMX, stated that the mexican cartels have launched the methamphetamine production on an industrial scale in many states of the country and now they export the drug throughout the world.
