Domestic workers must work, according to the Domestic Law (Complementary Law 150/2015), 44 hours a week, 8 hours of work per day, with a 30-minute break of up to 2 hours for lunch, for those who live in the workplace. This 8-hour day can be distributed from Monday to Friday, with an additional 4 hours of work on Saturday.
Mário Avelino, President of the Instituto Doméstica Legal, recommends that you talk to the employer about the matter, asking him to register it in the work card and in the e-social system. “If he does not want to sign the work card, the solution is to report him to the Public Ministry of Labor – MPT, through number 158 or the Labor Police Station, which can be done anonymously, or ultimately, file a labor lawsuit ”, he advises.
Thus, by having your work card duly signed, you will have all your rights guaranteed, such as vacation, 13th salary, maternity leave, FGTS, unemployment insurance, work accident insurance, among other benefits.
