Boulder police arrested a woman for reportedly stealing a truck, jumping out of the vehicle, and causing it to crash into a fire hydrant on Monday.
According to the Boulder Police Department’s post on X, around 4:30 p.m., officers responded to a truck that had crashed into a fire hydrant on Airport Boulevard.

The woman had just been released from jail after stealing a car the day prior, and as she walked about half a mile down the road, she looked inside a truck, saw the keys, got inside and drove off, according to the post.
When the woman couldn’t figure out how to operate the truck’s manual transmission, she jumped out and tried to leave the area on foot. The truck then crashed into the fire hydrant.
According to the post, no one was injured and the truck was returned to its owner following the incident.
Officers spoke to witnesses and took the female suspect into custody.
The woman was was arrested on suspicion of felony second-degree motor vehicle theft with an enhanced charge, careless driving, driving without a valid license, and duty upon striking an unattended vehicle or other property.
