Boulder police have invited local teens to join the Boulder Police Department Youth Academy.
The academy will take place June 17 through June 21 at 1805 33rd St., Boulder. From June 17 through June 20, the academy will occur between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. However, the youth academy will run from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on June 21.
According to the department’s Facebook post, during this weeklong academy, teens will get to tour the police department and the Boulder County District Attorney’s office, learn about the court process, department history, crime scene investigation and traffic.
Additionally, participants will receive demonstrations from Boulder detectives, the department’s bomb squad, its SWAT team and dispatch personnel.
Attendees need to be at least 14 years old or turning 14 this summer, and must include a description about why they want to be a part of the academy and learn more about police, according to the post.
Police request that applicants include their date of birth or a copy of their driver’s license photo and submit their application to [email protected] by May 14.
Officers asked that participants bring their own lunch from June 17 to June 20. Lunch will not be provided, except on June 21.
